It should be clear that my name isn’t a typo. My wife and friends call me Bink, and I’m married to the lovely Mrs Schippers. And that’s how I became Bink Schippers. I was born in the Netherlands some time ago and have been living in the German capital, Berlin, for a number of years. Working on graphic design and photography is what I love doing most. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been sticking bits of paper together and making newspapers and posters. And ohhh my first camera was magic.
And then came the moment when a computer and a printer entered my life. An instrument that has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. Back then, even a printer was still something of a marvel. And although I’ve worked in many other fields, creating graphic designs has always brought me joy. That, along with photography. Over the years, I’ve created all sorts of things in the field of graphic design. And yet I still see myself as a beginner.
Seeing myself as a beginner isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, it has always allowed me to view new developments with a fresh perspective. With admiration, but also with a critical eye. Being critical of yourself, but also of others, tends to give you a greater sense of satisfaction with what you create. Admire things. Learn to simplify when necessary. Colour is lovely, but so is simplicity. For me, that has always been a wonderful way of looking at life.
